Rip It...Rip It...

Yes..(head hanging low)..the Frog visited my home earlier last week.   I started out stitching the Around the World, Installment 1 pattern. I'm starting 2 patterns in the rear.  In my head I view it as a race in which my car just left the starting position - while all others have passed me two times.  But, I'm up for the challenge. I'm a strong willed and determined kind of person and I will make up those two laps and even work on my bunny pattern just to show off....

Well, then life happens and I get put in my place. Doesn't happen often but I have to be honest with myself, re-evaluate the situation and create a new game plan .. because at some point I'm going to make up those laps!

I started off great and realized I was a few stitches off of the pattern, I started taking out the stitches to get back on track, when "clip" ... the fabric was cut!  Uggh!  No back up fabric either...that wont happen again.

The next day I purchased multiple pieces of fabric for back up and one for this project and away I went.  I started stitching again on Friday and as of yesterday I'm 98% complete with the 1st Installment. I'm so proud of myself..beaming with pride and joy.  Thinking to myself how excited I am to update my blog with my update as to what happened including how I've gotten myself ahead and almost ready to start on installment 2.

"You've got mail.."  I read my emails this morning and what's in my inbox..Installment 3.  Ok ok ok -- I get it, I will just have to be O.K. with being behind.  I will concede but only for the time the back of my mind, I'm planning tactics on how to get caught up.  ;)

The following are a few pics -- more can be found on the Around the World Tab above:

Pic as of 6.20.12

You're probably wondering what the following picture is... we'll I did say in my opening Blog that I have random thoughts -- well this is one of them.  I often wonder what the back everyones cross stitch looks like.  My daughter cross stitches too, and after she shows me her's always followed by -- let me see the back.  I honestly think this has something to do with my OCD..personally the back of my fabric has to be clean and all strings tucked away.   I do not judge others..I just love seeing how everyone does theirs too.

Thanks for reading :)

Note to self ... "nannnnna"

I didn't get much stitching done.  Brinna, my 18 month old, came home from daycare Friday sick.  She didn't start to feel any better until Sunday afternoon.  Note to self:  the morning after they're sick don't attempt to feed them a matter how cute they say it with big brown eyes and pointing at it across the room and saying.... "nannnnna".  She is only tricking will come back to you in a different form.  yuck!

I did however accomplish a lot by getting my kits together.  My hubby stayed home with Brianna while I took Jessica, my 17yr old and Caitlyn, my 4 month old with me.  The stitching bug has now reached Jessica.  Which is nice,  I like that we have something in common and we can help each other with our obsession. (not sure if if really hurts..because we keep expanding our collection..oh well i LOVE it!).

She found two nice patterns she is going to stitch, one for her brother and one for a friend.  I was working on 2 but have since added 4 more.  That will be it for now as far as having any WIP's.  Note to self.. make a list of acronyms and their meanings- when I first started reading blogs a few weeks ago I was reading about frogging, WIP's and ORT's.  I had no clue what those were..even though I've been stitching since I was 16 -- I truly thought frogging was when you stitch then stretch the floss to a area on the fabric that was far away..because you had to jump over there.  LOL  I know what it means now..but had to search Google to figure it out along with the other acronyms.  I had to share with my friend Lesli who has a blog as well -- as it was her blog that I first saw that word..because it's part of her name.

If you haven't already you should check it out her blog>   I blame my obsession on her :)

With two of my kids in tow, we went shopping, stopped at three different get all the floss, fabric and misc. things we needed for our kits.  Here's a before pic:

Sunday, Brianna was feeling better and I got a hold of a few 50% off coupons from Michael's to get the last of what I needed for my kits.  I spent their nap time Sunday organizing all my kits.  Let me tell you a little something about me .. I'm have OCD when it comes to organization... so these kits feed right into my obsession (well in this case 2 of my obsessions -- stitching too!!)  Here's an after pic:

Each kit contains the pattern, floss, scissors and fabric. The last thing I need to add is a pic on the outside of each box so that I know what's inside of it.  Hubby is also happy becuase I'm not taking up the dining room table anymore ... for the time being  ;)

It's now Sunday evening and Jessica and Jared are in Rhode Island with their dad. Brianna and Catilyn are in bed sleeping for the night.. and I can't wait to finish this blog so I can open a container and stitch for an hour tonight. Good night for now..

To New Adventures

I'm excited to start this blog of my thoughts, creative projects and anything else I may want to talk about including my random thoughts. I know I'm not the only one that has them :)

I'm currently working on 2 cross stitch projects.  As I learn and understand this website I'll post more details.

I've been stitching since I was 16 years old because of a Senior Project my 12th Grade English teacher assigned to every student.  I wanted to do something different so I learned how to cross stitch and stitched the poem I was assigned for my paper as well as a border around it.  I even learned how to mat and frame it and did it all myself.  I've been hooked ever since.

I stopped for a while and picked up again about a year ago to make one for my husbands grandmother and finished it as a Christmas Gift in 2011.  I was so consumed with getting it done by Christmas (which I really didn't finish it till Jan 1st ... had to give her a rain check on Christmas day, I was a 7  months pregnant and had 1 year old running around.....'nuff said  LOL).

I woke up on Jan 2nd and felt that I was missing something, a few weeks went by and the cross stitch itch wouldn't go away -- I was driving my husband crazy.  The gift for his grandmother took me 2 years to complete and here I was wanting to jump right on in and get another one.

I'm the type of stitcher that I like to do them for others, so the Calamine lotion finally worked on my "itch" and I found my new project.  But that lotion must not worked too well because I then found a 2nd one I'm making for my husbands Mom.  And most recently I've found a new website thanks to a wonderful friend of mine and I now have 6 more lined up for a total of 8!!

I'm not sure if I'll stop at 8, but I do know that I'm up for my new adventure with all my projects and this blog :)
